Sold as a pair

Mid-century inspired—minimalism, brutalism, honest materials.

Vitalic-12 is a modern, high-efficiency 2-way that delivers horn dynamics without the room-overrun. A fast 12-inch woofer hands off to a precision waveguide for effortless scale, impact, and low listening fatigue—at everyday volumes and well beyond.

Why it feels alive

  • High efficiency, low compression. Big, unforced dynamics and microdetail at low volume; clean headroom when you push it.

  • Seamless hand-off. Crossover is tuned by measurement and ear for a relaxed, coherent midband—voices sit forward, never sharp.

  • Real bass, compact footprint. A tuned enclosure gives agile, tuneful low end—music, not boom.

Monolithic Wooden Horn

What it is
A horn carved from a large, solid billet of Baltic birch plywood. The mass and stiffness provide an exceptionally stable acoustic structure.

Musical properties & advantages

  • Minimal coloration. Dense wood damps parasitic vibration—cleaner mids, natural tone.

  • Greater intelligibility. Attacks and decays resolve without glassiness; more micro-detail at low levels.

  • Soundstage & focus. Tighter localization; stage width and depth remain stable.

  • Low listening fatigue. No spiky resonances or ringing—easy to listen for hours.

  • Dynamics with control. The structure doesn’t “breathe”: drums hit hard and bass stays tight, even on peaks.

What you’ll hear

  • Center-locked vocals with body and air

  • Drum transients that start/stop on a dime

  • Brass/strings with bite and shimmer, minus the glare

  • A wide, stable stage that stays intact off-axis

Key Features

  • CNC-machined, solid-birch horn block bonded into the cabinet (maximum rigidity, minimal resonance)

  • 96 dB sensitivity for vivid dynamics with modest power

  • 12″ pro woofer: carbon-fiber–impregnated paper cone and cloth surround.

  • Horn-loaded HF in a custom waveguide for control and dynamics

  • Hand-built Baltic birch cabinet; internal bracing; low-diffraction edges

  • Premium crossover parts; robust binding posts

  • Optional Active Vitalic-12 with integrated DSP/amps (plug-and-play, preset voicings)

Finishes & Options

  • Cabinet: Baltic birch — raw/natural ply (clear or matte oil) or custom real-wood veneer (Walnut, Oak, bespoke)

  • Baffle: Black silk or full Noir

  • Configuration: Passive or Active; matching plinths available

Your system, your way

  • Passive or Active. Run Vitalic-12 with your favorite amp, or choose the integrated DSP/amp option for true plug-and-play (preset voicings and room-friendly trims).

  • Amplifier-friendly. High sensitivity works beautifully with quality tubes or low-to-medium-power solid-state.

  • Rooms: excels in small-to-medium spaces; scales with placement in larger rooms

Specifications

  • System: 2-way; horn-loaded HF; front-ported cabinet

  • Sensitivity (passive): ~96 dB (1W/1 m)

  • Frequency response (system): 36 Hz–20 kHz; target ±3 dB through the midband

  • LF driver: 12″ carbon-fiber-impregnated paper cone, cloth surround

  • HF driver: compression driver in solid-birch machined waveguide

  • Crossover: time-aligned acoustic targets

  • Nominal impedance: 8 Ω (passive version)

What People Are Saying

“I highly recommend tl recently purchased a pair of high-end speakers (Vitalic 12) from Shakuto Audio, and they have exceeded every expectation I had for performance, craftsmanship, and musical realism. I am driving them with a Denon PMA-600NE amplifier (45 W per channel at 8 Ohms), and the synergy is outstanding. Even at just a quarter of the amplifier's power, the speakers easily fill my family room with rich, dynamic sound. Given that they can handle up to 300 W without distortion, it's clear they have more than enough capability for much larger spaces.

One of the great features is the switch between Flat and Studio modes. Flat provides a deeper, fuller sound that enhances warmth and ambience (it is the mode I use most often especially for immersive listening). Studio offers exceptional clarity and articulation, making every detail stand out with precision. Both modes are excellent, and having the ability to choose between them adds a level of versatility.

The sound quality overall is truly unique. The horn-loaded design delivers incredibly expressive mids and highs, while the bass remains controlled, powerful, and free of muddiness, even at very high volume levels.

The soundstage is wide and realistic, revealing nuances in recordings that many higher-priced speakers simply gloss over. For example, jazz recordings reveal deep, textured bass lines and subtle instrumental layers I had never noticed with any of my previous speakers.

I also measured the frequency response myself and was impressed to find a smooth spectrum from 30 Hz to 20,000 Hz, surpassing the already ambitious published spec of 38-20,000 Hz. This accuracy contributes to the speakers' natural and engaging character.

Combined with their handcrafted build quality and refined aesthetics, these Shakuto Audio speakers are extraordinary. I could not recommend them more highly.”
